Police are appealing for witnesses following an armed robbery of a convenience store in Auburn last night.

About 8.40pm (Tuesday 24 March 2015), a 56-year-old man and a 53-year-old woman were working in a convenience store on Cumberland Road when a man entered the store.

Police have been told the man produced a knife and threatened the pair, demanding money.

He fled the scene a short time later, taking cash.

The man and woman were uninjured during the incident.

Officers attached to Flemington Local Area Command were called and commenced investigations.

As inquiries continue, police would like to speak to a man who may be able to assist them.

He is described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, about 180cm tall and of medium build.

He was seen wearing a dark-coloured jacket, grey tracksuit pants, white shoes and a beanie around the time of the incident.
