Police are appealing for witnesses following an armed robbery of a shop in Chippendale early this morning.

A 21-year-old man was working at the counter of a convenience store on Cleveland Street just after midnight (Friday 3 April 2015), when two men entered the shop with their faces covered.

One man threatened the attendant with a knife demanding cash, he complied handing over cash.

The men ran from the store east along Cleveland Street, Chippendale.

Police were called and officers from Redfern Local Area Command attended and commenced an investigation.

A crime scene was established.

No one was injured as a result of the robbery.

Investigators are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that may assist with their inquiries to contact Crime Stoppers.

One man was described to police as having tanned skin, about 180cm tall and of solid build.

The other man was described as being of medium height and thin build.
