A bank branch at Lobethal has been declared ‘safe’ after the SA Police Explosives Co-ordination Section investigated a suspicious package left behind at the premise by an armed robber this morning.
Streets surrounding the area were closed, but have now been reopened.
The robber, who threatened staff with a knife as they arrived for work about 9.30am this morning, left behind a suspicious package at the bank.
Cordons were put in place and the main road closed while the package was examined, however, Inspector Gus Sickerdick, from the Hills Fleurieu Local Service Area, confirmed the area was now safe.
