Detectives have charged a man and a boy after an alleged armed robbery at a shopping centre in Ipswich this afternoon.
It will be alleged that around 2.30pm the duo, one armed with a syringe, threatened a boy whilst inside an elevator at a shopping centre on Nicholas Street.
Police will further allege that the duo then demanded property from the boy before assaulting him.
The boy complied with demands and the duo ran away.
The boy suffered minor injuries as a result of the incident.
A 20-year-old Rosewood man was charged with one count each of armed robbery in company and assault occasioning bodily harm. The man is due to appear in the Ipswich Magistrate’s Court tomorrow morning.
A 15-year-old boy was also charged with one count each of armed robbery in company and assault occasioning bodily harm. The boy will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.
