Detectives are investigating following the armed robbery of a licensed premises on Hellawell Road in Sunnybank Hills in the early hours of this morning.

Initial investigations indicate around 1.45am a man entered the business and presented a firearm, detaining staff members before demanding money from the safe.

A staff member complied with the man who then left the business on foot with a large sum of cash, heading along Jackson Road.

The man is described as approximately 190cm tall, of solid build with an olive complexion and was last seen wearing a dark hoodie and dark jeans.

No one was physically injured during the incident.

Investigations are continuing.
