A man has been charged following investigations into an alleged armed robbery of a grocery store in Woolloomooloo yesterday.

About 3.30pm yesterday (Saturday 23 May 2015), a man allegedly entered a grocery store on Charles Street, armed with a blood-filled syringe.

He allegedly threatened an employee; a man aged in his 20s, and demanded cash.

The employee complied with his demands and handed over an amount of cash, before the man ran from the scene.

No one was injured during the incident.

Police from Kings Cross Area Command were called and established a crime scene which was examined by specialist forensic officers.

About 6.30pm the same day (Saturday 23 May 2015), following investigations, police attended a residence on Talbot place, Woolloomooloo, and arrested a 39-year-old man.

During a search of the man, police allegedly located and seized an amount of drugs, believed to be cannabis.

The man was taken to Kings Cross Police Station where he was charged with robbery armed with an offensive weapon, and possess prohibited drug.

He was refused bail and is due to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today (Sunday 24 May 2015).
