An armed bandit was quickly arrested after his attempt to rob a service station in Bundoora did not go to plan this morning.
The man armed with a hammer and a knife entered the service station on Plenty Road and demanded cash from the attendant just before 3am.
Police have been told the staff member managed to convince the bandit to go outside where he would get him cash from an ATM.
Once outside, the quick thinking attendant remained inside and locked the doors before calling police.
The Greensborough van attended and found the offender still standing outside the doors, subsequently arresting him.
No one was injured during the incident and the 22-year-old Bundoora man is currently assisting police with their enquiries.
