A man has been charged after allegedly robbing a service station, armed with a knife, in Mittagong today.

About 1.45pm (Saturday 13 June 2015), a man allegedly entered a service station on the Old Hume Highway and walked to the rear of the store.

He waited until the store was empty of customers before approaching the female attendant.

He allegedly produced a knife and jumped the counter, pushing his way through the security wire barrier.

He entered the secure area and allegedly threatened the 25-year-old with a knife, demanding money from the till.

The employee complied and he ran from the store into nearby bushland.

Police were called and began investigating the armed robbery.

They searched surrounding areas and arrested a man who was hiding in Kell Crescent, Welby.

The 23-year-old man was taken to Bowral Police Station and charged with armed robbery.

He was refused bail to appear before Goulburn Local Court tomorrow (Sunday 14 June 2015).
