Detectives have arrested three people over the alleged armed robbery of a taxi driver at Orange on the weekend.

The 71-year-old driver stopped his vehicle on Jindalee Avenue about 10.30pm on Saturday (20 June 2015), when he was approached by a man.

The man allegedly threatened him with a knife and demanded money.

A woman then also approached the driver before the pair fled with his wallet and an amount of cash from the taxi.

Police were alerted and officers from Canobolas Local Area Command launched an investigation.

Following inquiries, detectives arrested a 17-year-old male at a home on Tumbeelluwa Place at Orange yesterday (Monday 2 June 2015).

He was taken to Orange Police Station where he was charged with armed robbery and bail refused to appear in a children’s court today (Tuesday 23 June 2015).

Following further inquiries, a 20-year-old man was arrested at Orange Police Station yesterday afternoon. He was charged with dishonestly obtain financial advantage and receive/dispose of stolen property.

About 9am today (Tuesday 23 June 2015), a 19-year-old woman was arrested in Leumeah Road at Orange. She was taken to Orange Police Station where she was charged with robbery armed with an offensive weapon.

The local woman was refused bail to appear at Orange Local Court today.
