Police have charged a man and a girl following the armed robbery of a bottle shop in Toowoomba overnight.

Police will allege that around 8:30pm the pair, who were part of a group, entered the bottle shop on Ruthven Street and helped themselves to bottles of alcohol.  Police will further allege that when the shop attendant interrupted one member of the group, he observed the male was holding a bladed weapon.

The employee retreated and the group ran from the shop.

The 37-year-old male shop attendant was not physically injured during the incident.

An 18-year-old Harlaxton man was charged with one count each of enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence and armed robbery.  He is due to appear in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court tomorrow morning.

Police also charged a 15-year-old Wilsonton girl with one count each of enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence and armed robbery.  The girl will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justices Act.

Investigations are continuing.
