Police are appealing for witnesses following the armed robbery of a supermarket in Auburn last night.

About 8pm (Sunday 12 July 2015), a man entered the store on Rawson Street and walked behind the counter towards an attendant who was serving two customers.

The man was brandishing a silver pocket knife and demanded the attendant open the cash register.

The attendant complied with the direction and the man grabbed an amount of cash from the till before running from the store.

Police were contacted and officers from Flemington Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene which was examined by forensic specialists.

Following investigations, police would like to speak with a man in relation to the incident.

He is described as being 175cm tall with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a black balaclava with only the right eye area open, a plain black hooded jumper, and black tracksuit pants with white vertical stripes on the side.
