Police are investigating the armed robbery of a taxi driver in Eight Mile Plains early this morning.

At around 12.30am, a taxi driver was waiting at a rank outside a licensed venue at the corner of Logan and Gaskell Roads when a man sat in the front passenger seat, produced a knife and demanded the driver’s wallet.

The driver sustained cuts to his hand as he exited the taxi.

The man left the scene in a vehicle. At this stage, it is not known whether the man stole any items.

The taxi driver drove himself to the Queensland Elizabeth II Jubilee Hospital for treatment.

Investigations are continuing.
