Police have charged a boy with the attempted armed robbery of a Mt Isa convenience store this morning.

Police will allege at 6.07am a boy entered the convenience store on Pamela Street and demanded money from the attendant whilst carrying a shovel.

Police will further allege the boy exited the store after being refused by the shop attendant.

A 15-year-old boy has been charged with one count each of stealing and attempted armed robbery.

He will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justices Act.
