A man will face court today following investigations into an armed robbery at a service station in Summer Hill earlier this week.

About 5am on Wednesday (15 September 2015), a man entered a service station on Carlton Crescent, Summer Hill.

He allegedly tried to use a stolen credit card to pay for some items.

When the card was declined, he allegedly produced a syringe before grabbing a customer, a 65-year-old man, and demanded cash from the attendant, a 24-year-old man.

Following a struggle with the 65-year-old man, he ran from the store empty-handed.

About 3.45am yesterday (Sunday 20 September 2015), following investigations, a 36-year-old man was arrested on Lang Street, Croydon.

He was taken to Burwood Police Station where he was charged with aggravated robbery and deprive person of liberty, and deal with identity information to commit indictable offence (x3).

He was refused bail and is due to appear at Burwood Local Court today (Monday 21 September 2015).
