Police are appealing for information following an attempted armed robbery in Coffs Harbour yesterday.

About 4.40pm (Sunday 27 September 2015), a man with his face covered entered a business on West High Street armed with a knife.

Police have been told he demanded money from the owner of the store.

The owner’s 21-year-old son saw the incident unfolding and chased the man from the store.

He fled the scene towards a local school empty handed.

Officers attached to Coffs-Clarence Local Area Command arrived and a crime scene was established.

As inquiries continue, police would like to speak to a man who may be able to assist them.

He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, 175cm tall with a slim build, wearing a black and red striped hooded jumper, black jeans and carrying a grey back pack.

A man matching this description was seen walking near Robin Street and Red Cedar Drive.
