Brisbane City detectives investigating the alleged attempted armed robbery of a Kelvin Grove supermarket last night have charged two South Brisbane men.

Police will alleged two men, one armed with a knife, entered the Bishop Street supermarket around 8.40pm however the pair fled empty handed after failing to steal any money.

A 20-year-old female employee, one of around seven people inside the supermarket at the time, sustained a hand laceration during the robbery and was transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital for treatment. No one else was physically injured.

Both men have been charged with one count each of attempted robbery whilst armed and in company, assault occasioning bodily harm whilst armed with an offence weapon and in company, and enter premises and commit an indictable offence.

A 34-year-old man was charged at a bedside hearing today and remanded in custody. A 31-year-old man is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court tomorrow.
