Police investigating two armed robberies in Byron Bay last month have released CCTV images of a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries into the incidents.

About 7.25pm on Sunday 27 September 2015, a 26-year-old woman was at an ATM on Jonson Street when she was approached by a man armed with a knife.

Police have been told the man threatened the woman, demanding money.

The woman screamed and ran from the scene, while the man left empty-handed.

About 7.30pm, a 76-year-old woman was walking along Byron Street towards Middleton Street, when a man armed with a knife approached and threatened her.

The man took the woman’s handbag and fled the scene.

Neither woman was physically injured

Detectives from Tweed/Byron Local Area Command have been investigating both incidents, which are believed to be linked.

They have today (Tuesday 6 October 2015) released CCTV images of a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

The person depicted in the images is described as having a slim build, aged 30 to 40, 170 to 180cm tall, with short dark hair.

In the images, the person is wearing black-framed glasses, long black pants, with a black v-neck jumper covering a blue shirt, and a grey-coloured, fedora-style hat.
