Police are appealing for witnesses following an armed hold up in Newcastle last night.

About 7.45pm (Wednesday 7 October 2015), a man armed with a knife entered a liquor store on Burwood Road, Kahibah.

Police have been told the man approached a 48-year-old employee and demanded money from the till.

The employee opened the draw and the armed man left with a sum of cash. No one was injured.

Officers attached to Lake Macquarie Local Area Command were alerted and commenced an investigation into the incident.

As inquiries continue, police would like to speak to a man who may be able to assist them.

The man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, 165-170cm tall, aged in his 20’s, wearing a black hooded jumper and black tracksuit pants.

He was last seen crossing Glebe Street and walking toward Burwood Street, Kahibah.
