Police have charged four males in relation to a spate of street robberies in Sydney’s west.

In July 2015, detectives from Flemington Local Area Command formed Strike Force Kurramatta to investigate several late-night street robberies in Lidcombe, Berala and Auburn which occurred throughout June and July 2015.

Police will allege the group was approaching victims and robbing them at knifepoint.

About 6am today (Thursday 8 October 2015), officers executed four search warrants on homes in Lidcombe and Berala and Campsie.

At a home in Campsie police arrested a 17-year-old. A 16-year-old was arrested at a home in Fairfield, while a 17-year-old was arrested at a home in Auburn. Two others – aged 16 and 17- were also arrested at a home in Lidcombe.

The five males were taken to Auburn Police Station.

Police are investigating at least six reported incidents and have laid the following charges in relation to four incidents.

The Campsie male was charged with robbery in company (x2). He was granted conditional bail to appear before a children’s court on Thursday 5 November 2015.

The Fairfield teen was charged with robbery in company (x2). He was granted conditional bail to appear before a children’s court on Thursday 5 November 2015.

The 16-year-old from Lidcombe was charged with robbery in company, dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception and possess identity information to commit indictable offence. He was refused bail to appear before a children’s court tomorrow (Friday 9 October 2015).

The Auburn teen was charged with robbery in company (x4). He was refused bail to appear before a children’s court tomorrow (Friday 9 October 2015).

The 17-year-old teen from Lidcombe was released without charge pending further inquiries.

Investigations by Strike Force Kurramatta detectives are continuing.
