Detectives investigating the armed robbery of a Mount Cotton service station last night have released CCTV images of the incident.

Around 8pm, a man threatened a shop attendant at the Mount Cotton Road business with what appeared to be a firearm before stealing money from the attendant.

The man then fled the scene on foot, heading in the direction of Valley Way.

The 25-year-old male attendant was not physically harmed during the incident.

The man is described as being African in appearance, approximately 163cm tall with a slim build and was wearing a grey-hooded jumper and black pants.

Police are appealing to anyone who may recognise the man depicted in the footage or has any information about the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Police are also appealing for anyone who saw a vehicle parked on Valley Way near the Mount Cotton Road intersection between 7.45pm and 8pm, or anyone who saw a man wearing a grey-hooded jumper behind the wheel of a vehicle in the area, to contact Crime Stoppers.

CCTV vision will be released this afternoon.
