Police are investigating the armed robbery of a bakery at Thornlands this morning.

At around 11.15am a man entered the bakery on Panaroma Drive, produced a knife and made demands for money. The female staff member complied, handing over a sum of the money from the till.

The man then demanded the staff member’s handbag and has struck the woman on the hand with the blunt side of the knife. The woman has again complied and handed over the bag.

The man then left the bakery and entered a blue sedan parked in Osprey Drive before fleeing the scene in the vehicle.

The 63-year-old female staff member was not physically injured during the incident.

The man is described as Caucasian in appearance, in his early 20s, approximately 172cm tall and of slim build. He was last seen wearing a grey hoodie with pale blue jeans.

The car is described as a blue Holden Astra.

Investigations are continuing.
