Two men have been charged following a lengthy investigation into the alleged armed robbery of a security guard on the state’s central coast last year.
The 35-year-old man was confronted by two men outside a leisure centre on Blackwall Road at Woy Woy just before 3am on Sunday 16 November 2014.
The security guard had attended the centre after an alarm was activated.
Police will allege the pair, who had their faces concealed, threatened the man with a hammer and demanded money.
They fled with a large sum of cash that had been collected from a community centre bingo event earlier in the evening.
Strike Force Menken was established by detectives from Brisbane Water Local Area Command to investigate the incident.
Following inquiries, strike force detectives executed three search warrants at homes in Umina, Booker Bay and Woy Woy today (Thursday 22 October 2015).
A number of items were seized.
Two men, aged 40 and 34, were arrested and taken to Gosford Police Station where they were charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon; larceny; and receive/dispose stolen property.
Both were bail refused to appear at Gosford Local Court tomorrow (Friday 23 October 2015).
Inquiries by Strike Force Menken continue.
