Police are investigating an attempted robbery and an armed robbery of two establishments in East Brisbane overnight.

Around 11.45pm a man wearing a hood and armed with a short sword and attempted to kick in the door of a hotel on Burn Street, Camp Hill. The door was locked and staff called police. The offender fled the scene empty-handed

Police believe the same man, armed with the same weapon, entered a hotel on Stanley Street just after midnight and demanded money from bar staff. They complied with demands and the man fled the premises with a sum of cash.

No one was physically injured during either incident.

He is described as Caucasian, approximately 170cm tall, of average build and aged in his late 20s.
