Police have charged three men in relation to the armed robbery of a Yorkeys Knob Fuel station early on Monday morning.

Officers descended on a residence in Yellowfin Close at Kanimbla just before 6am yesterday and a number of people were detained.

Investigators executed a search warrant at the address and a number of items of interest to the investigation as well as drugs and utensils were located and seized.

A 24-year-old Holloways Beach man was located at the address and was arrested and charged with one count of armed robbery whilst in company as well as possession of a drug utensil.

Three men aged 23, 29 and 39 and two women aged 24 and 43 who were also present at the residence were also charged with a total of nine offences unrelated to the robbery.  These included failing to appear in Court, possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug utensils.

Inquiries then led officers to an address at Edmonton where a 22-year-old Kanimbla man was located and taken into custody.  He was subsequently charged with one count of armed robbery whilst in company.

Detectives continued their investigations into the night and at 1.45 this morning, a 39-year-old Edomonton man was arrested and charged with one count of armed robbery whilst in company.

The trio is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court this morning whilst the other five people are expected to appear in the same Court this morning and over coming weeks.

Investigations into three other recent armed robbery offences are continuing.
