Police are investigating following an armed robbery of a service station at Tawradgi, near Wollongong, this morning.

At 5.45am (Monday 23 November 2015), a 26-year-old man was working at a service station on Towradgi Road, when a man armed with an axe approached and threatened him.

The armed man fled the scene a short time later, taking a till containing cash. The employee was uninjured during the incident.

Officers attached to Wollongong Local Area Command were called and commenced investigations.

As inquiries continue, police would like to speak to a man who may be able to assist them.

He is described as being of medium build, about 180cm tall, and was seen wearing a black ‘West Coast Choppers’ branded hoodie with a white logo across the front, black track pants, black gloves, and white sandshoes.
