Police are investigating following a ram raid burglary in Greenvale this morning.
Investigators have been told thieves used a stolen Nissan Navara to smash their way into a tobacco shop on Mickleham Road about 5.25am.
The vehicle was reversed into the shop and once inside, three men wearing balaclavas, loaded cigarettes into the rear of the utility.
Police were quickly on scene and the offenders drove at officers before fleeing.
The silver Nissan Navara was found burnt out this morning time at 7.30am on Holt Parade in Bundoora.
Investigators believe the same offenders are responsible for three other burglaries prior to the ram raid. These include:
• A jewellery store on Settlement Road in Thomastown about 4am.
• A jewellery store on Sydney Road in Brunswick about 4.25am.
• A Broadmeadows jewellery store about 5.05am.
Hume Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating and are keen to speak to any witnesses.
