Police are investigating the armed robbery of a hotel on Ipswich Road in Annerley overnight.

Around 9.45pm a man armed with a knife and a woman entered the bottle shop area of the hotel and demanded money from a staff member.

The staff member complied with their demands and the pair fled the scene on foot with a sum of cash, travelling in the direction of Franklin Street where they may have left the area in a vehicle.

No one was physically injured during the incident.

The man is described as Caucasian, aged in his early 20s, of a thin build with red hair and freckles.

The woman is described as Caucasian, aged in her early 20s, with a medium build.
