Police are investigating an armed robbery at a grocery store in Cairns yesterday.

Around 10.20pm two men, one armed with a knife, entered the Sheridan Street business threatening staff and demanding cash and cigarettes.

A female staff member complied with the demands and the pair fled the store on foot with a sum of cash and a quantity of cigarettes.

No one was physically injured during the incident.

Investigations are continuing.
