Detectives have charged a man in relation to three alleged armed robberies in North Toowoomba on December 15 and December 16.

It will be alleged a man entered the bottle shop of a hotel on Ruthven Street in North Toowoomba at 9:15pm on December 15 armed with a replica handgun and demanded money from a male staff member.

The staff member complied with the man’s demands, handing over a sum of cash before the man fled the scene on foot.

Police will further allege at around 8:30pm last night a man entered the bottle shop of a hotel on Bridge Street in North Toowoomba, armed with a replica handgun and demanded money from a staff member. It will also be alleged a short time later a man entered the bottle shop of a hotel on Mort Street in North Toowoomba, armed with a replica handgun and demanded money from a staff member.

On this occasion the staff member refused to comply with the man’s demands. The man was chased by staff and located a short distance away from the hotel. Police attended the location and took a man into custody.

A 17-year-old man from Kelso has been charged with three counts of armed robbery.

He is due to appear in Toowoomba Magistrates Court today.
