Hobson’s Bay Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance after a man assaulted and robbed a 66-year-old man in Altona North last year.
Police have been told the man was withdrawing money from an ATM at Borrack Square about 12.55pm on 4 November.
An unknown man approached the victim and punched him, causing him to fall to the ground.
The offender then stole cash from the ATM that the victim had withdrawn and ran towards Duke Street where he is believed to have jumped into a waiting dark coloured car.
The offender is described as approximately 183cm tall with a stocky build and he was wearing runners, black knee length shorts and a dark coloured hooded top pulled over his head.
The man also has tattoos on both of his calf muscles.
The victim was not seriously injured but the incident has caused emotional trauma to the point he is afraid to leave the house.
Investigators have released CCTV of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.
