Three men have been charged with a series of offences that began when bags were stolen from two women late yesterday afternoon.

About 4.30pm a woman on a bicycle on King William Rd, Unley Park, had her bag stolen from her, then police were advised that another bag had been taken from a car at a service station on Glen Osmond Road, Glenunga, while the driver was filling up the vehicle.

A Commodore sedan was linked with both vehicles, and one of the victims was able to track her stolen phone via a security app.

Based on those details, the police helicopter (Polair) identified a location for the vehicle on Grand Junction Rd, and about 11.30pm, it was also seen by a police patrol.

A short pursuit was called off for safety reasons, while the vehicle continued to be monitored by Polair.

After the vehicle stopped in Upton St, Elizabeth Vale about 11.45pm, three men were arrested.

The men, from Unley, Davoren Park and Craigmore – who are all aged 29 – have each  been charged with two counts of aggravated robbery, dangerous driving to engage in police pursuit and failure to truly answer.

They have been refused police bail are expected to appear in Adelaide Magistrates Court this afternoon.
