Police are investigating two robberies in the southern and western suburbs overnight, with cash stolen from two licensed premises.

Just after 11pm, a man armed with a rifle entered the St Francis Winery on Bridge Street at Old Reynella and threatened staff before leaving with an amount of cash.

He is described as being Caucasian, about 175cm tall, slim build and was wearing a grey hooded top with an orange motif on the front and black track pants with three stripes down the leg.

Patrols with the assistance of the Dog Operations Unit and PolAir, conducted a search of the area but the suspect was not found.

At about 1.20am, police were called to the Bartley Tavern at West Lakes after a man armed with a knife threatened staff in the gaming room, before running away with an amount of cash.

No one was injured during either incident.

The suspect is described as about 162cm tall, and was wearing a dark grey hooded jumper, jeans, and concealed his face with a scarf or cloth.

He may have left the area in a car in Fairford Terrace.
