Police have arrested five males after an armed robbery and a kidnapping at a golf club at Casino over the weekend.

About 3.20am on Saturday 9 January 2016, a 30-year-old man entered a golf club on West Street to commence his cleaning duties.

At 4am he opened a door onto the balcony area and was grabbed by one of five offenders, two of whom were armed with knives.

Whilst he was restrained by one man, the others removed alcohol and cash from the premises.

One offender continued to guard the employee, threatened him with a golf club and dragged him around the club, as the other men searched the premises.

The men fled, taking the proceeds of the offence and the employee with them.

The man was eventually released and was able to make his way back to the club and drive to the police station to report the robbery.

About 1.30pm on Sunday police from Richmond Local Area Command arrested an 18-year-old man in Casino. A short time later a second male, 16-years-old, was also arrested and taken to Casino Police Station.

The two males were charged with kidnapping/ detain for advantage and were refused bail to appear at Lismore Local Court and a Children’s Court today.

Three other males have been arrested today and were taken to Casino Police Station where they are assisting with inquiries.
