Police are searching for two people following the robbery of a Smithfield hardware store last night.
Around 8.30pm, a man took items from the shelves of the Mount Milman Drive business and walked out of the store without paying.
When a staff member questioned what he was up to, the man reached into his clothes to imply that he had a concealed weapon and that he would use it.
He then put a number of stolen items (it is not currently known what exactly) into a car and fled the scene. The car was being driven by another man.
A woman he had been with in the store fled the scene on foot shortly after.
The man is described as Caucasian in appearance, around 175cm tall with dark brown hair. He was wearing a light-coloured shirt, knee-length shorts, a brown baseball cap and thongs.
The woman is described as Caucasian in appearance, around 170cm tall with dark brown hair. She was wearing a black top and a black, purple and white horizontal-striped skirt.
No one was physically injured as a result of the incident and no firearm was actually sighted.
The Dog Squad joined detectives from the Criminal Investigation Branch and general duties crews to conduct patrols nearby, but so far the pair have not been located.
