Police have charged a 32-year-old man following an alleged armed robbery at a service station yesterday afternoon in Kingston.

At around 5.40pm, a man entered a service station on Juers Street and attempted to purchase a drink and cigarettes.  The transaction was declined and the man allegedly proceeded to walk out of the store with the goods.

When he was challenged by the male shop attendant, he allegedly produced a knife and allegedly threatened the attendant.

The man left the scene on foot with the stolen property, however police located him a short while later at the Kingston Railway Station.  Upon trying to apprehend the man, police will further allege that did not comply with police direction.

A 32-year-old Kingston man has been charged with one count each of armed robbery and obstruct police.  He is due to appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on February 15.
