Detectives have released an image of a man they would like to speak with as inquiries continue into the armed robbery of a hotel at Bass Hill late last year.

Just after 1.30am on Monday 28 December 2015, two men smashed through the glass doors of the hotel on the Hume Highway.

The men – one armed with a firearm, the other a knife – stole cash from a register before fleeing.

Staff members who were inside the hotel at the time fled when the men entered and were not injured.

Officers from the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad commenced an investigation into the incident.

In the early hours on Wednesday 30 December 2015, a 27-year-old man was arrested following a police pursuit at Lewisham. A shot was fired at police during the incident.

The man was taken to Newtown Police Station where he was charged over the Bass Hill armed robbery, as well as multiple other offences relating to the alleged pursuit.

The Newtown man remains bail refused and will appear at Burwood Local Court on 13 April 2016.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the armed robbery and are renewing an appeal for public assistance.

They’ve released an image of a man who they believe might be able to assist with inquiries. The man entered the hotel and spoke with staff shortly before the robbery.

Anyone with information that may assist investigators is urged to come forward
