Police are investigating after two men attempted to rob a takeaway store at Yarrabah last night.

Around 6.15pm the two, one armed with a shovel, the other with a knife, entered the Back Beach Road business and demanded money and cigarettes.

After their demands were refused by the attendant who shouted at them the two fled the business.

The attendant was not physically injured during the incident.

The first man is described as being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander in appearance, 17-20 years of age, average build, approximately 175 cm tall and last seen wearing an unknown coloured beanie, blue and white coloured bandana covering his face and coloured clothing with patterns including stripes of unknown colour.

The second man is described as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander in appearance, around 15-17 years of age, 165cm, skinny build and last seen wearing a light coloured hat and unknown coloured bandana over his face.

Police investigations are continuing.
