A man has been charged following investigations into the armed robbery of a West End tobacco store on March 18.

It will be alleged a man entered the Ingham Road store around 12.20pm and demanded cigarettes and for staff to empty the till.

The man allegedly fled the scene, grabbing a carton of cigarettes, after the attendant refused to open the till.

A 20-year-old West End man has been charged with armed robbery and is expected to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court today (March 21).
