Four people are assisting police with enquiries following the armed robbery of a tavern in Burleigh Waters earlier this morning.

At around 2.40am, two men entered the premises just off Bermuda Street, one armed with what was believed to be a firearm.

Staff and patrons were threatened before the men left in a black vehicle with a sum of cash.

Just before 3.30am, the black vehicle was located in Santabelle Crescent, Clear Island Waters, allowing the Dog Squad to track the two men to a residence nearby.

Four people, including the two men, are currently assisting police. Investigations are continuing.

There is no further information available at this stage.
