Police are conducting an investigation following an armed robbery in Sydney’s south west last week.

About 10am on Tuesday 29 March 2016, a 44-year-old man entered a cafe in a shopping centre on Chapel Road, Bankstown, and walked behind the counter.

Police have been told the man allegedly produced a syringe, threatened an 18-year-old woman and demanded money.

The man left the store with a sun of cash and walked to a nearby taxi rank where he was driven to a bus stop near Revesby Train Station.

Officers attached to Bankstown Local Area Command were contacted and commenced and an investigation.

Police would like to speak to a man in CCTV images taken near the scene of the incident who might be able to assist with the investigation.

The man depicted in the images is described as Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, approximately 170-180cm tall, of medium build with a bald head and a tattoo on his left hand. He is shown wearing a red hooded jumper with white writing on the front and black shorts.
