Police are investigating an aggravated robbery at Christies Beach this afternoon.

About 4.15pm a man armed with a firearm entered a newsagency on Beach Road and threatened staff.

The man demanded money and left on foot with an amount of cash. He was last seen running in a south westerly direction from the premises before heading south into back streets.

No one was physically injured.

The suspect is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged in his 20’s, clean shaven, about 173cm tall and weighing between 70-80 kgs.

He was wearing a light grey hooded jacket, black pants and carrying a black bag.

Patrols, with the assistance of POLAir and police dog operations, conducted an extensive search of the area but could not locate the suspect.
