A shopkeeper was wounded during an armed robbery at a Main Beach business early this morning.
Around 2.30am a man entered the Main Beach Parade convenience store armed with a knife demanding money.
The attendant became involved in a scuffle with the armed man. The man then lunged at the shopkeeper with the knife and wounded him on the neck.
The man then ran away empty handed.
The male shopkeeper received a non-life threatening injury to his neck and has been taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment.
The man is described as Caucasian, heavy set, aged approximately 25-35 years and was wearing a white cap, a grey-coloured jacket with a white zip, black shorts and black thongs.
