Detectives have charged a man following an alleged attempted armed robbery of a Broadbeach business overnight.
It will be alleged at about 7pm a man attended the Gold Coast Highway takeaway and threatened a staff member with what is thought to be a knife. The man demanded some food.
The staff member declined and the man went to a neighbouring takeaway and threatened a staff member demanding keys for a motor bike. The staff member declined and the man left.
A short time later the man has entered a service station approximately three hundred metres away and stole a box of chocolates.
Police located the man a short time later near the businesses.
A 28-year-old Saint Andrews NSW man has been charged with two counts of attempted armed robbery and one count of stealing.
He is due to appear at the Southport Magistrates Court today, May 19.
