Police have released CCTV of a man wanted after seriously assaulting a woman during an armed robbery in Burwood East last weekend.

The man entered the milk bar about 5.30pm on Saturday, 11 June.

Once inside, he threatened the lone female attendant with what’s believed to be a conducted energy device (CED) and made a demand for cash.

An altercation ensued and the man then produced a vehicle club lock and brutally assaulted her in the head.

The man then left the store with cash and cigarettes.

The woman sustained serious facial and arm injuries and remains in hospital.

The man was wearing a black hooded jumper and wore ski goggles with white rims.

Burwood still

Investigators believe the armed robbery is linked to another armed robbery that occurred in Glen Waverley last month.

A man entered a milk bar on Capital Avenue just before 6pm on Thursday, 26 May and approached the counter.

He then threated the two staff members with a CED and made demands for cash and cigarettes.

After being given quantities of both, he left the store.

The victims were physically uninjured during the incident.

The man is a described as being Asian in appearance, aged in his early to mid 20s and spoke English.

At the time he was wearing a black hooded jumper with GSTAR printed on it, black tracksuit pants, black runners, black gloves and a bandanna covering the lower part of his face.

Detectives from Box Hill Embona Taskforce are investigating the armed robberies and have released CCTV from both incidents.
