Police have arrested and charged a teenager after an attempted armed robbery in Queanbeyan earlier this month.
Shortly before 6pm on Saturday 4 June 2016, a youth entered a grocery store on Crawford Street, Queanbeyan.
Police have been told the youth, allegedly armed with a knife, threatened a staff member and demanded cash.
He fled the scene without any money. The youth was last seen running south along Sheedy Lane, toward Morisset Street.
Officers attached to Monaro Local Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation.
About 8.10am today (Friday 24 June 2016) investigators went to a home in Vaughan Close at Queanbeyan acting on information provided by the public.
The officers arrested a 16-year-old boy and conveyed him to Queanbeyan Police Station.
He was later charged with demanding property with menaces with intent to steal.
The boy was refused bail and will appear at a Children’s Court today.
