Detectives have charged a man following an alleged attempted robbery in Waterford West early this morning.

Police will allege at around 1:30am a man entered a service station on Chambers Flat Road and produced a knife before demanding cigarettes from a male staff member.

When the staff member refused the man fled the scene on foot.

The 21-year-old staff member was not physically injured during the incident.

Police have later located a man at an address in Logan Reserve where he was taken into custody without incident.

A 20-year-old Logan Reserve man has been charged with one count of attempted armed robbery.

He is due to appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court today, July 4.
