Police are investigating the armed robbery of a liquor outlet in Clayfield overnight.

Initial investigations indicate at around 7.40pm two men were observed at the front counter of the store on the corner of Oriel and Sandgate roads.

A female employee challenged the men and one of them has then threatened her with an axe and demanded money. The employee has complied and the men have then left the store with a sum of money and two bottles of alcohol.

It’s believed the two men may have then left the area in a 4WD or SUV type vehicle traveling in an easterly direction along Oriel Road.

Both men are described as approximately 180cm tall and were both wearing black tracksuits.

The female employee was not physically injured.
