A woman has been charged over an alleged armed robbery that occurred at a supermarket in Mascot last night.

About 7.25pm (Monday 1 August 2016), police were called to a supermarket on Botany Road following reports of an armed robbery.

It’s alleged a 29-year-old woman entered the store, armed with a knife, and threatened two staff members while demanding cash.

The woman was handed a sum of cash from the till and she left the store.

Minute’s later police arrived and arrested the woman who was sitting in a nearby shop.

She was taken to Mascot Police Station where she was charged with robbery armed with an offensive weapon.

She was refused bail and will appear in Waverly Local Court today (Tuesday 2 August 2016).
