Police are investigating the armed robbery of a licensed venue in Stafford last night.

Preliminary investigations indicate two men, one armed with an axe and the other with a piece of wood, entered the business on Webster Road around 9.30pm.

The two men threatened staff and made demands for money. A staff member complied with the demands, handing over a sum of cash to the two men who then fled the scene on foot.

They were last seen running towards Billabong Street, where they have then entered a vehicle and driven away from the scene.

No one, including patrons inside the venue at the time, were physically injured during the incident.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Investigations are continuing.
