Toowoomba detectives investigating the alleged armed robbery of a taxi driver at Wilsonton on August 26 have today charged a man with armed robbery.

The 30-year-old man was arrested in James Street, Toowoomba this morning and has been remanded in police custody to appear in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court tomorrow morning where he is also faces charges of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, wilful damage and unlicensed driving.

Police are investigating after a taxi driver was robbed in Toowoomba early this morning.

Around 4.10am, a man threatened a male taxi driver with a knife on Lindemann Court at Wilsonton.

The taxi driver was forced out of the vehicle before the man sped away in it.

It appears the man dumped the taxi shortly after at a nearby estate and fled on foot.

The taxi driver was not physically injured as a result of the incident.

Investigations are underway to identify the man involved.
